Silk thread bangles are the core of what we make at Jhilik. Each bangle starts as a plain plastic or metal base ring. We wrap it by hand with silk thread, one turn at a time, until the surface is fully covered and even. Kundan stones, gold-tone wire, small beads and metal motifs are then fixed onto the thread. Nothing is machine-wrapped and no two sets come out identical.

What kind of silk thread bangles we make
- Plain wrapped bangles – single colour, no stones. Usually ordered in sets of 6, 8 or 12 to stack.
- Kundan silk thread bangles – wrapped bangles with kundan stones set in a line, a flower or a leaf pattern. Our most requested style.
- Gold wire bangles – silk thread with a criss-cross of gold-tone wire and small square stones. Common in red, maroon and royal blue.
- Bridal sets – a wider centre bangle (kada) with two to four thinner bangles on each side, all in matching thread and stones.
- Mixed colour stacks – two or three colours in one set, for example navy with teal and mustard, chosen to match a saree border.
Colours
Silk thread comes in more shades than you can buy in ready-made glass or metal bangles. We keep red, maroon, royal blue, navy, teal, bottle green, mustard, orange, pink, black and white in stock at all times. Other shades are ordered in for you. If you send a photo of your saree, lehenga or salwar kameez, we match the thread to the fabric before starting.
Sizing
Bangle sizes in Bangladesh are given as the inner diameter in inches: 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10 are the usual sizes. Because our bangles are wrapped by hand, we can make any of these and also in-between sizes. To find your size, measure the widest part of your hand with your thumb tucked in, or measure the inner diameter of a bangle that already fits you. Sizing errors are the most common problem with bangles bought online. Because we make each set to order, you tell us the size and we make it. A set that does not fit because of our mistake is remade at no cost.
How to order
- Pick a ready-made set from the Bangles collection, or send us a photo or description of the set you want.
- Tell us the size, the number of bangles and the colour. Include a fabric photo if you want an exact match.
- We confirm the price and the finishing time. Ready-made sets are dispatched within 1–2 working days. Custom sets usually take 3–5 working days to make.
- Your set is packed in a rigid box and sent by courier to any district in Bangladesh. See the delivery locations page for your area.
Care
Silk thread should stay dry. Put bangles on after applying perfume, lotion or mehendi and take them off before washing your hands. Store sets flat in the box they arrive in so the thread does not snag. More detail is in our post on caring for silk thread and kundan jewelry.
Where we deliver silk thread bangles
We are based in Feni and sell only within Bangladesh. Orders go by courier to all 64 districts, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi. Customers in Feni can collect in person.
Silk thread as a jewelry material has a long history in South Asia; the bangle itself has been worn in the region for over four thousand years. Our other handmade pieces – rings, earrings and necklaces – can be made in the same thread colour and stones to complete a set.
