Wrong size is the number one reason bangles bought online get returned. This bangle size guide explains the sizing system used in Bangladesh, gives two ways to measure at home, and tells you what to order if you fall between sizes. It takes five minutes and saves a week of returns.
How bangle sizes work
Bangle sizes in Bangladesh and India are written as the inner diameter in inches: 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10. The number after the point is in eighths of an inch, not tenths, so 2.4 means 2 and 4/8 inches (2.5 in), and 2.10 is larger than 2.8. This confuses many people.

Most adult women in Bangladesh wear 2.4 or 2.6. 2.2 is common for teenagers and small hands; 2.8 and 2.10 for larger hands or for a loose, sliding fit.
Method 1: measure a bangle you already own
- Take a bangle that goes on and off comfortably.
- Lay it on a flat surface and measure straight across the inside edge, at the widest point, with a ruler.
- Read the measurement in mm and find it in the table above. 70 mm is 2.6; 63–64 mm is 2.4.
This is the most reliable method because it measures fit, not just hand size.
Method 2: measure your hand
- Tuck your thumb into your palm as if putting on a bangle.
- Wrap a strip of paper or a soft tape around the widest part of the hand – across the knuckles and thumb joint.
- Mark where the paper overlaps and measure the length in mm. This is the circumference.
- Find the nearest circumference in the table. 199 mm is 2.4; 220 mm is 2.6.
If you use string instead of paper, pull it snug but not tight; string stretches and gives a small reading.
Between sizes?
Order the larger size for silk thread bangles. They cannot be stretched after wrapping, and a slightly loose bangle is comfortable while a tight one cannot be worn. Because our bangles are made to order, we can also make in-between sizes (for example between 2.4 and 2.6) – just tell us the measurement in mm when ordering custom silk thread bangles.
Kada and bridal sets
A wide kada in a bridal set uses the same inner diameter as the thin bangles around it. If you plan to wear the set over mehendi or with a heavy dress cuff, go one size up.
